Who is the Platform Squad?

The Platform squad is a new squad being formed to support our product squads. This squad owns critical service implementations such as Authentication/Authorization in addition to user-facing pieces of our applications like our CMS and our React component library. Teams such as Website Product will regularly interact with Platform and rely on their APIs and packages.

What you will do as a Sr. Backend Engineer:

  • Design, build, test, and deploy the cloud-native platform and microservices/API to be consumed by our platform and clients
  • Partner with architecture and external development teams to design reusable frameworks and technical solutions
  • Partner with Frontend Developers to create new user-facing features and build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Participate in the evaluation of emerging technology and tools
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Conduct code reviews for peers and mentor junior Engineers
  • Iterate on our framework for rendering and building a common of libraries and components
  • Participate in squad ceremonies and team events (lunch & learn, brainstorms, etc.)

Skills And Qualifications:

  • 5+ year experience developing backend web applications. Bonus points for experience with TypeScript on NodeJS
  • Experience with data-driven architecture and systems design, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture. Test Driven Development experience is a plus!
  • Strong experience in designing optimal system integration with data persistence layers, including use of ORMs, SQL and APIs to interact with RDBMS, NoSQL and other data storage systems
  • Experienced working with enterprise frameworks like Spring Boot, .net Core or equivalent with a solid understanding of concepts like dependency injection
  • Strong understanding and implementation of cloud-native architectures (AWS serverless or containers preferred) at scale in production
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of software design principles such as SOLID and DI
  • Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS), multi-tenancy application development
  • Experience working in a Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CICD) model, including Github and CI pipeline automation tools
  • Proven success working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
