Anticipated Arrival: The Debut Studio Album
Today marks the release of Kim Petras’ first official studio album, Feed the Beast, following a career that has included two mixtapes, several EPs, and numerous singles. The album arrives almost a year after Petras expressed frustration on Twitter about lacking approval to release her previously rumored album, Problématique.
Included in Feed the Beast are a number of previously released singles, including the successful Sam Smith collaboration “Unholy,” which propelled Petras to become the first openly transgender artist to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, the album features “Alone,” featuring Nicki Minaj, which was released in April, as well as “brrr,” which debuted in January. “Coconuts,” which was released in December 2021, is also included.
During a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, Petras discussed her involvement in each song on the album, highlighting that she co-wrote them all. Despite portraying an image of entitlement, Petras clarified that she doesn’t have songs handed to her. She explained that although she collaborated with Max Martin in the studio, they worked together, bouncing ideas off each other to create the final product.
